In preparation of Spring...

There has been a small Christmas tree siting in the upstairs corner hallway between our bedrooms that we have not been able to get ourselves to take out to the garage to store until next winter. Maybe we are still in denial that Christmas has ended or that the space will look empty without it. Whatever the reason, we have kept it there. The boys thought it was a good idea to make it into an "All Seasons Tree", so little one and I scoped out Michael's today in search of whatever we could find to inexpensively decorate it in preparation for Spring. We found vintage looking egg ornaments (99 cents a piece), a mama and papa bird, along with a small nest that we filled with tiny eggs and two already hatched baby birds (about $2 a piece) Then picked up a bag of wooden eggs for an impromptu egg hunt ($5) along with two small galvanized buckets ($1 a piece). I also found a wooden cross ornament painting kit (2 for $2) which we then hung on the tree after they were painted and left to dry. Gradually as the weather continues to change, I would like to add more to the tree to resemble the changes that are occurring outside.. blooming flowers, butterflies, etc. I am so excited that my children came up with such a fun new family tradition! Hopefully it will help us to get through these last several cold weeks of winter. :)

Btw.. I was trying to get some close-up shots, but this was the best I could do with my little point and shoot Canon Elph. Maybe the Easter Bunny will leave a shiny new fancy camera in my basket this year. Sigh..

  6. We do that too! Not always a tree but a table with a seasonal theme. I think my favourite tho is the easter tree which is going up fairly soon.

It's so lovely to mark the seasons for the children, isn't it?
